Features of Super Visa Canada

Canada's 超级签证 (Super Visa) is a special immigration program that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to visit Canada without having to apply for a regular visitor visa. A Super Visa is valid for 10 years, but unless you meet specific criteria, it cannot be renewed.

What is the Super Visa?

The Super Visa, which was introduced in 2011, allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit Canada for up to two years at a time. Those who hold a valid visitor visa may apply for the Super Visa at their nearest Canadian visa office. The application will include an undertaking signed by all adult applicants (over the age of 18) that they will leave Canada at the end of the visa period.

The number of applications doubled within five years since its introduction, following popular demand. The vast majority of applicants were parents and grandparents who wished to visit their Canadian citizen family members or who wanted to come to Canada as tourists without having to go through the regular tourist visa process.

Documents needed for 超级签证 (Super Visa)

- Passport valid for at least 180 days beyond the end of the Super Visa period

- Invitation letter from a Canadian citizen or permanent resident

- Passport copy showing photograph, signature and expiration date

An invitation letter from a Canadian citizen or permanent resident can be someone who is a family member (like a son/daughter). It can also be an employer in Canada, an employer outside of Canada, or an employer on the other side of the border.
